The Bakehouse

Old Bake House, High Street, Castle Cary BA7 7AW, UK – 01963 350067

I’ve been to the Bakehouse in Castle Cary 4 or 5 times now and each time we have come away feeling fulfilled, content and blissed out by the superb quality of the food. Simply put, they do their own thing beautifully. The flavours of the mains dishes leave one in delight at every mouthful. Desserts are all homemade. It’s just fantastic we love visiting. Thoroughly recommend! What a little gem!

The Bay Tree

South St, Castle Cary BA7 7ET, UK – 01963 350989

What a lovely, friendly pub. Landlord and staff are friendly and welcoming, good selection of beer and cider. Very tasty food with large portions! We shared a starter, had a main each and barely finished a shared dessert! If you are in the area, drop in and enjoy.

Lovely atmosphere. Really friendly owners and the most wonderful food. We both had lamb shanks with minted gravy, a very good helping of vegetables and potatoes, freshly cooked. For dessert we had a delicious slice of lemon meringue. Lots more on the menu I want to go back to try. Yum.

Wine Bars and Cocktail Bars

The Gallery Bar & Clerkenwell Fine Art

The Old Bank House, Castle Cary, High St, Castle Cary BA7 7AW, UK – 07901 671495

I play in a local band that does gigs here. Nice place. Extremely friendly. Good food and an interesting building with a gallery upstairs and a bar/ eating area in the stone walled basement. Very popular with the locals! Worth a visit.

I had the giotto pizza, it was delicious absolutely covered in goats cheese - yummy. I could definitely taste it was cooked in a pizza oven as it was so light and fresh. Such a perfect ambience, busy evening all tables were booked but we didn’t need to wait for long to be served by Alex who was very attentive. Thanks Sally and Sam, already looking forward to next time!
